Old Friends

One of the benefits of opening an online art gallery is sharing the talent of old friends. There were so many talented people with whom I went to school; their friendships have survived the years, their talent has thrived. One such friend is Paul De Pasquale. His life has been an elevator of up and down, his vision is always up.

Here are two of his portrait paintings. To me he is a Fauvist Sargent. Personalities are revealed through movement of paint and placement of color. The models have no time frame, the paintings could have been created last week or last century. Paul produces thoughtful and witty paintings because he is thoughtful and witty. Being a little nutty doesn't hurt either.

Paul lives and paints in New York and Rhode Island.
